Split is a beautiful city on the Adriatic coast. With amazing scenery, wonderful beaches and friendly people, it is easy to see why it is so popular.

Many of the tourists visiting Split come from the mainland or even from other islands in Croatia. This means that they are not able to get out and about and explore the local area. Read on to know the best day trips from Split.

If like me, you have been lucky enough to get an apartment in Split then you should consider taking advantage of this. Split has a variety of day trips available and many of them let you explore the surrounding areas.

The day trips range from sea kayaking to cave exploration and everything in between. If you are thinking of renting a place near Split, then you should consider booking one of these day trips. Here are a few of my recommended day trips from Split.

1. Day Trip: Trogir – 1.5 hours

Trogir is one of the most charming towns in Croatia. It is one of the historic towns and is a UNESCO heritage site. The main attraction of the town is its medieval old town which is a maze of narrow streets and houses.

There are two parts to Trogir, the old town and the island. The island is almost entirely one street, including all the bars, restaurants and shops. Just wandering around the streets is a real pleasure.

If you are only staying in Split for a short time, then a day trip to Trogir is really a great option. I recommend taking a boat. Most apartments in Split are centrally located, which means that if a boat is the fastest way to get there, then it is probably the best option.

2. Day Trip: Hvar – 2 hours

If you want to explore the beautiful island of Hvar then a day trip is definitely an option. Hvar is the second most popular island in Croatia, and is one of the most popular spots in Split. There are some great beaches but the main advantage of taking a day out on Hvar is that there is a lot to see.

The best day trip from Split is to visit one of the famous wineries. There are actually quite a few vineyards, but one of the most popular is Stari Grad. However, Stari Grad is not the closest so if you would like to visit it then I would spend a day there, enjoying the views and sampling some of the wine.

3. Day Trip: Korcula – 3 hours

I mentioned this at the end of a previous article. Basically, Korcula is an island with beautiful bays, secluded beaches, amazing history, old walled towns, and great hiking routes. The island of Korcula is my number one recommendation for a day trip from Split.

There are so many different possibilities, but my day usually consists of exploring the old walled towns of Korcula, enjoying a seafood meal by the sea, swimming in a cove, and doing some shopping.

4. Day Trip: Dubrovnik – 3 hours

Dubrovnik is the jewel of Croatia. It is an amazing walled city with an amazing medieval old town. I would highly recommend taking a day trip there, especially if you are only staying for a short time. The ferry trip is amazing and Dubrovnik is a truly special city. If you are traveling in a group of 5 or more people then taking a catamaran cruise is the best way to get there.

We hope that this article has given you some great ideas for the day tours that you can take from Split. If you are renting an apartment, then you should consider making the most of it. If you want to explore the area then make sure that you take one of the day trips, or maybe even 2 or 3!
